Oh! You can get humane traps to capture them and release them at least a mile away. We've used those before.

The vet said to give him Benadryl, have him finish the antibiotics and keep an eye on him. He also told me that he was thinking about Cosmo all day, since he had to empty another dog's stomach, but that the contents of this dog's stomach didn't even come close to rivaling Cosmo's. Glad to know that's what Cosmo's known for--LOL!

Right now, Cosmo is good and mad at me because I changed his food dish. He's a food stirrer (or thrower), so I got a new thing called a Neater Feeder. It's a raised feeder that has a backsplash on the part that holds the food and water bowls in place that keeps the food from going everywhere. It's part of an attempt to solve my other big animal problem--mice! They're stealing his food and taking it all over my house.

Yeah, this guy Ken probably talked to his wife about me when he got home. I'm one of those people.

How's the pup? What did the vet say?

I so feel for you, Kate! Verizon and I have done the same song and dance a bunch of times. I have my home phone and internet through them and getting anything fixed is a nightmare. Over the past year or so, I've gone close to a month without service. At one point it was over 10 days continuously, then the other times it's been a week or so at a time. Each time, I've had issues with appointments, unmet deadlines, and all sorts of other junk. They told me that they'd get to me faster if I upgraded to a business plan. I laughed and asked why I should pay more for service that they couldn't guarantee that I'd have. They hate me!

*sigh* I tried. I talked to my buddy Ken at the escalations dept (he's one of the ones I reemed yesterday).

He said this isn't a violation because it isn't a regular no dial tone issue and that there are only emergency crews working today and this isn't an emergency. The"spares" need to be replaced...whatever that is and that is a specialized tech - one so special he has the day off today.

*sigh*

First of all, there ARE staff on duty to make emergency repairs, even on a holiday.

Kate, do you have a dial tone on that line?

If you do not have a dial tone, I would call them back and I would tell them that it is absolutely against FCC regulations to leave ANY customer (even one whose phone has been shut off for non-payment!!) without a dial tone and the capacity to call 911 in an emergency and that whoever was lucky enough to pull holiday duty can get their butt out of the coffee room and get up there and fix it.

And THEN I would tell them (speak to a supervisor if necessary) that the bill for service for the month needs to be pro-rated as you are not paying for service that you didn't get. So they can divide the bill for the month by 30 and deduct however many days you've been without service.

If they gave me any grief at all, I would tell them that given what happened yesterday, and how badly this has been mishandled, the FCC really needs to hear about this and short of a repair person fixing the issue within 15 minutes AND your bill for the month adjusted, that is going to be your next call......

Can you tell I take NO grief from utilities?

At least you know Santa can find your house! ;)

I think I have a better chance of Santa than Verizon.
